V.W. Bro. Don Learning
Ottawa District 1 mourns the passing of V.W. Bro. Don Learning of Carleton Lodge No. 465, who laid down his working tools on September 27, 2026, following a brief illness.
V.W. Bro. Learning lived a life of service to his country and community. His career included service as a naval reservist, a member of the Canadian Coast Guard, and a career in the federal public service. He was also a dedicated Freemason, having served as Past Grand Steward and Past District Secretary of Ottawa District 1.
Beyond his professional and Masonic service, Don enjoyed many years of sailing and ski patrol and was blessed with a wide circle of friends. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and Brethren whose lives he touched.
We extend our sincere condolences to his wife, family, friends, and the Brethren of Carleton Lodge No. 465.
Masonic Memorial Service and Funeral
Brethren, family, friends, and members of the public are invited to attend the services for V.W. Bro. Don Learning on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Cole Funeral Services & Pinecrest Cemetery.

1:00 p.m. - Brethren Assemble
Brethren participating in the Masonic Memorial Service are asked to assemble with regalia. Dress is dark suit and tie. No tuxedos.
1:30 p.m. - Masonic Memorial Service
The Masonic Memorial Service will commence at 1:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.
2:00 p.m. - Funeral Service
An Anglican Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome, and Brethren are encouraged to remain in support of our Brother's family.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to a charity of one's choice and that, in Don's memory, we do a good turn for a friend or neighbour.
